I just read Lorrie Moore debut stories, Self Help, and liked it a lot although it is hard to beat her Birds of America.

Hard to beat her Birds of America - exceptional contemporary fiction from one of the best short story writers.

I would recommend Lolita, a book which baffles me with its beauty, pain, humor, grandness, minutiae, poetry, simplicity, audacity, style, and emotion. It is the best book I have ever read.

I am just starting David Denby book about the future of film and I love that so far.

Simon Rich wrote a cool comedic novella on The New Yorker site a few months back that I really liked a lot too.
